Power Quality Measurement
PM3
3-Phase Energy Monitoring & Load Control
Industrial-grade 480VAC energy metering and scheduled load control for heavy industry — with flexible Wi-Fi, cellular, Modbus, or power line communications.

ARG Instruments
Precision energy monitoring. Any industrial load.
The PM3 measures active, reactive, and apparent power, RMS current and voltage, power factor, line frequency, and cumulative energy across up to three 480VAC phases — with 0.1% accuracy across a 4000:1 dynamic range. Add contactor control and you have a complete energy management node.
Built for Industry
Everything a power monitoring node needs to be.
From the meter to the cloud — measurement, control, communications, and security in one DIN rail module.
Industrial-Grade Metering
0.1% accurate across a 4000:1 dynamic range. Active, reactive, and apparent power. RMS voltage and current. Power factor, line frequency, and cumulative energy.
Flexible Communications
Wi-Fi 6 (2.4/5GHz), MODBUS TCP/IP, Cellular LTE-M with Onomondo eSIM, or Hybrid Power Line & RF mesh. One protocol selected at order — no network installer required.
Scheduled Load Control
External contactor control up to 600VAC / 1.2A, independent of line voltage. Built-in RTC with 48-hour power backup. Non-volatile load schedule storage.
Enterprise Security
EAP-PSK with 256-bit ECC encryption, configured at the factory. TLS/SSL for all cloud and on-premises connections. Only whitelisted nodes can join the network.

Applications
From the panel to the cloud.
The PM3 connects industrial energy data to wherever you need it — cloud dashboards, SCADA systems, or local BMS.
Industrial Energy Management
Monitor and report energy consumption across multi-phase 480VAC industrial loads. Sub-metering by machine or circuit, energy cost allocation, trending and interval data logging.
Demand Response & Load Control
Automate load shedding and scheduled switching without a separate PLC. Time-of-use scheduling, peak demand management, contactor control up to 600VAC.
Remote & Distributed Sites
Deploy in locations without network infrastructure using cellular or PLC mesh. Cellular LTE-M for remote sites, PLC mesh with no new wiring, cloud or on-premises dashboard.
Building Energy Management
Integrate PM3 into building management systems via Modbus TCP/IP or Wi-Fi. Real-time power visibility, automated reporting, and load scheduling in commercial facilities.
Frequently Asked
PM3 — FAQ
Common questions about the PM3 three-phase power analyzer.
What does the PM3 measure?
Active, reactive, and apparent power, RMS voltage and current, power factor, line frequency, and cumulative energy across up to three phases at 80–480 VAC.
How accurate is it?
0.1% across a 4000:1 dynamic range — IEC 62053-22 Class 0.2 equivalent, revenue-grade.
Can it control loads?
Yes. It drives an external contactor (up to 600 VAC, 1.2 A) with an on-board real-time clock and non-volatile schedule storage — for time-of-use scheduling, peak-demand management, and demand response.
How does it communicate?
Wi-Fi, Modbus TCP/IP, cellular LTE-M/NB-IoT, or a hybrid PLC + RF mesh — selected at order time, with TLS/SSL for cloud and on-premises connections.
How does it mount?
On a 35 mm DIN rail; current transformers connect via clamp terminals.
